The Qatar World Cup 2022 has kicked off, and day 2 started with England beating Iran 6 goals to 2. Since the tournament started, this has been the biggest scoreline and would be the biggest until another country surpasses them.

The world cup fixtures started with the host country playing with Ecuador, in which they lost shamefully two goals to nil. With Eduardo topping Group A, the Netherlands caught up with them by beating the reigning African Champions, Senegal.

The Netherlands won with two goals to nil, with two coming from Gakpo and  Davy Klassen. The contest between one of the highly-ranked teams was almost ending when Frenkie De Jong floated a perfect pass toward the penalty area before it was headed home by Gakpo. This broke the deadlock of the game.

Chelsea shot-stopper Eduardo Mendy committed many mistakes in the game, leading to the second goal, which Davy Klassen scored. Barcelona player Memphis Depay had a shot toward the goalpost before Mendy parried the ball into the feet of Klassen, who took it home.

The game showed that Senegal lacked the finishing and great contributions of their main man, Sadio Mane, who was ruled out by a last-minute injury. The Netherlands saw the return of their leading forward, Memphis Depay, whose contribution led to their second goal.

After Senegal vs. Netherlands, the United States and Wales played a draw with the goals coming from Tim Weah and Gareth Bale. The first goal came in the 36th minute when Christian Pulisic passed to Tim Weah, who scored. Wales got their chance to score after USA defender Zimmerman committed a silly penalty scored by Gareth Bale.
